A+ R A-

The International Hibiscus Society is first and foremost an open group that's sole purpose is to foster friendly exchanges between hibiscus enthusiasts throughout the world and promote communication and cooperation between the various hibiscus entities and/or personalities.

Therefore, we ask you to keep your comments considerate and productive.

When challenging another's opinion (even if you heavily disagree), challenge the point and not the person making it.  Personal attacks are not acceptable.

Inappropriate submissions include, for example, comments or materials that makes false or defamatory statements about others; are obscene, vulgar, abusive, hateful, judgmental, threatening or are invasive of the privacy rights of others (e.g., by including addresses, phone numbers or other personal information about third persons without their consent).  Also, comments that discriminate or perpetuate hate on the grounds of race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, sexual orientation (or another characteristic) are not appropriate.

When making a comment around a "sensitive subject" please take extra care to consider how the phrasing of your comment may be interpreted.  Respecting people's heartfelt posts and comments that convey what they find to be meaningful to them in the world of hibiscus should by no means be taken lightly.

When participating in discussions, please do so with the intent of supporting others or engaging in healthy discussion.  Do not phrase your comments in a way that attempts to shame, humiliate, or undermine others.  If you feel another member's comments are inappropriate or could be construed as personal attacks, message one of the IHS Facebook moderators and we will respond to this.

It is also inappropriate to block certain members of the IHS from being able to view any posts or comments made on our Facebook page.  All posts and comments need to be fully visible to all members of the IHS.

All users of the IHS Forums [IHS FaceBook, Yahoo IHS "English', Yahoo IHS "Spanish or any that maybe be created in the future] should abide by this code of conduct.  If an individual does not, this may
result in disciplinary action being taken against them.  Members are expected to respect and obey the request of a moderator. Should they disagree, any further comments should not be posted on the forum but  be addressed to the IHS President, whose contact information is found on the IHS website.  He can either solve the problem or bring it before the BOD for their consensus decision. Continuing the debate on the forum will be considered insubordination, subject to immediate action by the moderator.

- A private message to the individual explaining why their actions have broken the code of conduct and, if applicable, how they can avoid doing this in the future.

- An article/comment being deleted off of the IHS Facebook page.

- A comment being made on a thread from a moderator outlining that a comment is inappropriate

- A member being banned /blocked from any IHS Forum and being prevented from rejoining.
